The City of San Antonio restricts parking of oversized vehicles in residential areas and where signs are posted.
This ordinance helps improve neighborhood safety and accessibility by reducing oversized vehicle congestion, preventing large vehicle obstructions and protecting roadways and infrastructure from damage caused by heavy commercial vehicles.
Restricted Vehicles
Vehicles prohibited from parking inside residential districts include:
- Semi-trucks and tractor-trailers
- Box trucks
- Buses
- Tow trucks
- Construction vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, cement mixers)
- Delivery vehicles exceeding size or weight limits
- Any motor vehicle, or trailer which by itself or together with other structure(s) or vehicle(s) attached to it exceeds any one of the three following dimensions (excluding appurtenances such as antennas, air conditioners, luggage racks, and mirrors):
- 24 feet in length
- 8 feet in width
- 8 feet in height
Vehicles prohibited from parking where signs are posted include semi-trucks and tractor-trailers as defined in Texas Transportation Code section 621.
Exceptions to these restrictions include:
- Active loading and unloading of goods or materials
- Emergency repairs that prevent immediate movement
Drivers must observe the law and restrictions. Violators will be ticketed a $500 fine.

- Beckwith Blvd. between Frontage Road to Vance Jackson Road
- Bluffdale/Bluffcreek between Fairhaven and Medical
- Gardendale between Bluemel and Datapoint
- Parkdale between Wurzbach and IH-10
- Garden Brook between Hunt Lane and Cable Ranch
- Holly Hill (2400 block) between Rigsby and Keasler
- Finis Ave (200 block) between Holly Hill and Loop 410
- Acorn Ridge between Oakdell Way and Hamilton Wolfe
- Cinnamon Trail between Cinnamon Hill and Cinnamon Creek
- Milsa between Stonewall Parkway and IH-10
- Datapoint between Parkdale and Fredericksburg Road
- Spectrum 1 between IH-10 and dead end
- Fairhaven between Datapoint and Medical
- Console between Bluemel and IH-10
- Midhorizon between Horizon Hill and IH-10
- East Horizon between Horizon Hill and IH-10
- Horizon Hill between Medical and Callaghan
Enforcement
Violations may be identified through:
- Routine patrols in restricted areas.
- Complaints filed by residents or businesses.
- Parking citations issued on-site for violations.

If you receive a citation, you must pay the fine within the required timeframe through San Antonio Municipal Court or contest the ticket if you believe it was issued in error by following the instructions on the citation.
