Through the Neighborhood Improvements Bond Program, the City issued $20 million in bonds for housing. San Antonio voters approved the program on May 6, 2017 as part of the $850 million 2017-2022 Bond Program. The Bond funds purchased and improved properties in 12 neighborhood improvement areas. The City then partnered with private developers and nonprofits to build housing.
The Urban Renewal Plan(PDF, 4MB) guides infrastructure enhancements consistent with the Bond. City Council adopted this plan on February 2, 2017. The Bond contributes to safer and more attractive neighborhoods. It also encourages new development by expanding affordable housing. This includes constructing or upgrading streets, sidewalks, utilities and other public improvements.
The City issued the Bond utilizing the Office of Urban Redevelopment San Antonio (OUR SA).
