Lifeguards

Step 1.Apply Online

To apply for one of our lifeguarding positions, you will need to apply online. We have two available positions:

• Lifeguard Position
• Outdoor Pool Supervisor Position

Step 2.Pass the Lifeguard Pre-Requisite Skills Test

Requirements

To take the test, you will need to bring a swimsuit and towel and do the following:

• swim 300 yards freestyle and breaststroke
• tread water without using your arms for two minutes 
• retrieve a 10-pound weight from the 13 foot depth and swim across the pool within the allotted time

Complete the Lifeguard Pre-Requisite Skills Test at the San Antonio Natatorium anytime during the following hours:

Hours:  
Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. & 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. 
Saturday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.  

You may also complete the test during a Lifeguard Clinic held the first Saturday of each month. 

Step 3.Complete Your Lifeguard Certification

Once you pass your skills test, you can sign up for one of our certification classes. These free lifeguard classes are held at the San Antonio Natatorium.
