With over 250 parks in San Antonio, we welcome volunteers with all types of interests and experience. From gardening and mulching projects to family events and litter pickup, there's something for everyone.

Ongoing Programs

Coach for Youth Sports

Volunteer coaches needed for year-round youth sports leagues. 

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteer coaches who are interested in teaching youth sports. Our goal is to create a positive environment that promotes self confidence and self esteem through programs we provide to our communities. The program is dedicated to providing all youth with the highest quality of recreation and educational experiences.

NOTE: All potential volunteers must obtain clearance from the City of San Antonio prior to volunteer participation.

Fitness in the Park Instructors

Parks and Recreation’s Fitness in the Park program offers hundreds of fitness classes every month around the city.

Volunteer to be a fitness instructor and become part of this award-winning program:

Little Free Library

Donate books or help create or maintain one of the Little Free Libraries in parks throughout the city.

If you have books that need a new home, please call 210-207-8309.

Maintain a Library
Volunteers are encouraged to visit these libraries to be sure they are in working order, free from vandalism, and stocked with books.
Build a Library
Do you have carpentry skills? We need Little Free Library volunteers to help sustain our growing program of libraries in parks, community gardens and trails.

Trail Watch Volunteers

Trail Watch volunteers work to help protect and preserve the flora and fauna along the trails. Volunteers will also be responsible for reporting vandalism and assisting trail users.

This program is open to volunteers ages 18 and older.
