Definitions

Single Largest Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT):

Single
Any one chemical (For example: gasoline, alcohol, etc.)
Largest
Single chemical that is in excess of 101 lbs.
Hazardous Materials
As defined in the current Fire Code (2021 International Fire Code with local amendments) as adopted by the City of San Antonio.

The following ordinances outline the HAZMAT Reporting Requirements for the City of San Antonio, establishing and modifying fees:

Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Permits

BuildSA Login/Register

  1. Create a login if you haven't already registered for a BuildSA account.
  2. Log in using your username and password.
  3. Click on Fire.
  4. Click Create an Application and follow the instructions.
  5. Select the HazMat application.
  6. Fill in the property information, contact details, and application information.
  7. Add any required or additional documents.
  8. Review the application, make a payment, and submit.

  • $800 per hour, per apparatus, per incident (Code: 9000065)
  • Recovery fee: at cost (Code: 9001245)

Swift Water Rescue

$645 per person, per rescue/attempted rescue (Code: 9001247)
