During the first full week of April each year, American Public Health Association (APHA) brings together communities across the United States to observe National Public Health Week (NPHW). NPHW recognizes the contributions of public health. It also highlight issues that are important to improving our nation's health. For over 25 years, APHA has served as the organizer of NPHW.
This year's theme is Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We are All Public Health.
Metro Health will celebrate NPHW by highlighting key achievements from SA Forward. SA Forward (PDF) is our community blueprint which launched in April 2022. It takes a community-informed approach by addressing issues learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. The SA Forward Plan strengthens our foundational capabilities to work in new ways to deepen our impact. Metro Health will focus our efforts on the following six priority areas:
Metro Health provides public health programs in San Antonio and unincorporated areas of Bexar County.
On Thursday, April 4, the City of San Antonio will proclaim National Public Health Week during its Council A-session. Metro Health will also be hosting a Public Health Fest along with a vaccination clinic that same day.
