Black Maternal Mental Health Week is July 19th through the 25th. Forty percent of Black women experience maternal mental health symptoms, which is almost twice the rate of all other women. These symptoms include:

  • feeling sad or hopeless
  • having no interest in things you used to enjoy
  • sleeping or eating too much or too little

The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District’s Access to Care Office wants you to know it’s okay to ask for help.

Maternal mental health is a mother's general emotional, social, and mental well-being, both during and after pregnancy. Healthy moms give birth to healthy babies!
