The San Antonio Youth Commission (SAYC) and the Metropolitan Health District's Project Worth Teen Ambassadors recently shared the results of the 2024 Teen Mental Health Survey. The survey was done earlier this year and open to individuals from ages 12 to 19 in San Antonio.

Past surveys showed that 59% of teens think school negatively affects their mental health, and many turn to friends for support when they face challenges. To help with this, the Project Worth Teen Ambassadors and SAYC teamed up with the Center of Health Care Services to offer Teen Mental Health First Aid training. This training teaches teens how to notice and respond to mental health and substance abuse issues among their friends.

Additionally, the San Antonio Youth Commission gave out $72,083.74 in small grants to fund 28 projects across 9 local school districts. These projects aim to support the mental health of young people. This funding was a special opportunity from the American Rescue Plan Act.
