If you haul commercial solid waste anywhere within the City, you are required to have a Commercial Solid Waste Hauler Vehicle Permit.
Regulation of Operations
Article IV of Code of Ordinances Chapter 14 contains rules and regulations on commercial hauling of solid waste. All commercial haulers must adhere to the rules. Noncompliance may result in the issuance of various fines and penalties.
Required Forms
All commercial haulers requiring permits must provide the following documentation:
- Permit Application Form(PDF, 80KB): Required from all commercial haulers including those with exemptions.
- Vehicle List Form(PDF, 44KB)
- Proof of Insurance Coverage: Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 7,000 lbs. or more must file evidence of liability insurance of $500,000, combined single limit for each permitted vehicle.

Permit Fees
Fees based on Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) are as follows:

- Permit fees are payable in quarterly installments.
- Quarterly payments are due May 1st, Aug 1st, Nov 1st, and Feb 1st of each calendar year.
- The fee is not pro-rated.
- Payment should be made payable to the City of San Antonio and should be submitted with a completed Vehicle List Form.
- Permits are effective for twelve months from the date of issuance.
Vehicle Inspection
We may conduct an inspection of vehicle(s) to determine suitability for solid waste operations.
