We provide a variety of services to nearly 370,000 residential households. This information will help you get the full benefit of our programs.
New Customers
- Once your residential CPS Energy account is setup, call 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000 for service information.
- New customers should receive a brown trash cart, a blue recycling cart and a green organics cart. If you do not have these three, please call 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000.
- The brown cart comes in small, medium and large. The blue and green carts come in small and large.
- You can label/mark your carts under the lid with your address, call 210-207-6428 to request label stickers.
- Garbage is collected on one day of the week and recycling and organics are collected together on a different day.
- Curbside brush & bulky item collection occurs twice for each per year.
- There are drop-off centers for Brush, Bulky Items, and Household Hazardous Waste.

- You may receive a cart tag, door hanger or flyer in the mail.
- Report all issues to 3-1-1 or 210-207-6000.
Billing & Account
- Our collection services are billed through CPS Energy.
- Customers pay a collection fee based on the size of their brown trash cart.
- There is no additional fee for collecting the blue recycling cart or the green organics cart.
- Customers, and residents in some multi-family complexes such as apartments, also pay the ‘environmental fee’. This allows access to our various Drop-Off Centers. Check for this on your CPS Energy bill.
- Customers may downsize their brown trash cart and reduce their monthly collection fee.
- Customers may also request additional carts. Fees may apply.
- If you were charged incorrectly call 210-207-6428 for assistance in getting your bill corrected.
Notices & Warnings
- If you receive a notice letter without anything checked as yes, you may call 210-207-6428 for assistance in finding out what item was found.
- Warnings under your address are held for six months.
Avoid a Violation Fee
Unaccepted items in a cart is called contamination. Customers will incur a fee when their cart is contaminated. Visit our Contamination page to see why it is a big problem.
