2011 Complete Street Policy

In 2011, San Antonio adopted its first Complete Streets Policy that focused on the three key goals of the Complete Streets Approach. These aim to serve all ways that people travel, make travel accessible for all people, and address the needs of each street. As practice has improved nationally, so have the standards for policy. This important effort laid the foundation for the improvements San Antonians deserve. However, it was due for an update to re-establish our City as a leader in safe and efficient street design for all.

2024 Complete Streets Policy

In September of 2024, an updated Complete Streets Policy was adopted by City Council. The changes it makes improve our policy to meet current standards and best practices. It also helps San Antonio to create streets that are safe for all the ways people move. This update is our first step towards a safer, more inclusive, and more efficient transportation network in San Antonio.
