Amended Oversized Parking Ordinance to take effect April 19

SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2025) On March 20, San Antonio City Council amended City Code 19-194 to prohibit parking of certain oversized vehicles where signs are posted. The ordinance takes effect for vehicles defined as truck-tractors or semitrailers on April 19, after which violators will be issued a warning for 60 more days. Citations will be issued beginning June 18.

More than 40 parking signs will be placed along portions of the following 16 streets:

  • Beckwith Blvd. 
  • Gardendale Rd.
  • Parkdale St.
  • Garden Brook Dr.
  • Holly Hill Dr.
  • Finis Ave.
  • Acorn Ridge Rd.
  • Cinnamon Trl.
  • Milsa Dr.
  • Datapoint Dr.
  • Spectrum 1
  • Fairhaven St.
  • Console Dr.
  • Midhorizon Dr.
  • East Horizon Dr.
  • Horizon Hill Blvd.

This ordinance helps improve neighborhood safety and accessibility by reducing oversized vehicle congestion, preventing large vehicle obstructions, and protecting roadways and infrastructure from damage caused by heavy commercial vehicles.

The ordinance uses the definition of truck-tractors or semitrailers found in Texas Transportation Code Chapter 621. Violators will be given a $500 fine. For more information, visit SA.gov/TruckParking.
