SAN ANTONIO (February 18, 2025) – City of San Antonio leaders and partners have officially opened Vista at Silver Oaks on the city’s northwest side, which features 76 new apartment units. It is the second completed rental community supported by the voter-approved 2022 Affordable Housing Bond. The development contributes to the more than 800 homes now complete with support from the Affordable Housing Bond.
"San Antonio is raising the bar once again with the grand opening of Vista at Silver Oaks, our second affordable multi-family housing complex made possible through the Affordable Housing Bond,” said Mayor Ron Nirenberg. “This isn’t just another development — it’s a bold statement of what’s possible when a city commits to equity and opportunity. Thanks to the relentless work of the Neighborhood and Housing Services Department and the vision of voters who believed in this bond, we’re not just meeting the need — we’re redefining what affordable housing can be in San Antonio. This is how you set the standard!"
Vista at Silver Oaks, developed in San Antonio's District 9 by Opportunity Home San Antonio, Atlantic Pacific Companies, and OCI Development represents a $29.3 million investment supported by a $3.3 million contribution from the 2022 Affordable Housing Bond.
"Vista at Silver Oaks is a testament to what happens when we prioritize people and invest in housing that keeps families closer to where they work, go to school, and build their lives,” said District 9 Councilmember John Courage. “No one should have to travel across town just to find an affordable place to call home. As San Antonio continues to grow, so does the need for more affordable housing in every part of our city. Today, we celebrate not just the opening of a new development, but the promise of a better future for the families who will call Vista at Silver Oaks home — a place where they can truly thrive."
The project offers 76 apartments, providing housing at the following Area Median Income (AMI) affordability levels: 8 homes at 30 percent AMI, 22 homes at 50 percent AMI, and 46 at 60 percent AMI. The Area Median Income (AMI) for a family of three in the San Antonio $79,700. A family of three at 30 percent of this AMI makes no more than $23,900 per year.
“Vista at Silver Oaks is the result of countless hours of dedication, collaboration, and an unwavering belief in the transformative power of affordable housing,” said Veronica Garcia, Director of Neighborhood and Housing Services. “Our team is dedicated to creating affordable homes that are safe, secure and high quality. Every detail in creating this reflects the unmatched expertise, tireless commitment of local teams who make these homes possible.”
The assortment of homes at Vista at Silver Oaks will come with services such as a business center, fitness center, community center with kitchen and TVs, tax preparation classes, health and wellness programs, youth afterschool and recreation programs, and more. Vista at Silver Oaks is minutes away from San Antonio International Airport, the Medical Center, UTSA, and is within walking distance to Phil Hardberger Park.
“Affordable housing is more than just buildings — it’s about creating sustainable, thriving communities where families can build stable, dignified futures,” said Michael Reyes, acting president and CEO of Opportunity Home. “Vista at Silver Oaks demonstrates the impact of strategic public investment paired with strong partnerships. This development is not merely a response to the pressing need for affordable homes — it stands as a symbol of hope and a foundation for lasting opportunity. Each unit here represents a promise kept to San Antonio’s families — a promise that affordability, accessibility and community will continue to drive our city’s growth and progress.”
To date, the Affordable Housing Bond has committed over $115 million for the creation and preservation of more than 4,100 homes across San Antonio near jobs, transit, schools, and services.
