Unsheltered Neighbors

The City of San Antonio’s Department of Human Services (DHS) continues to work with community partners to operate additional temporary overnight shelter space to help unsheltered neighbors experiencing homelessness. The following locations are currently available for our unsheltered neighbors tonight:

  • *City of San Antonio Bode Community Center - 901 Rigsby Ave
  • *City of San Antonio Tobin Community Center - 1900 W Martin St

The City’s Street Outreach Team and Community Connections Hotline (210-207-1799) are operating 24/7 until Saturday morning to support our unhoused neighbors. The hotline offers up-to-date information on warming centers and shelters, and will connect unsheltered neighbors with resources, including shelter transportation and cold weather supplies. DHS will provide transportation to overnight shelters. Animal Care Services has supplied kennels to ensure pets are safely accommodated at the shelters.

Animal Care

Animal Care Services has issued 47 citations over the past two days and will continue to enforce a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for pet owners that break both City and State law by leaving their pets outside in cold temperatures (below 32°F). Anyone who fails to provide proper, humane shelter or who uses unsuitable tethers for outdoor pets, risks receiving criminal citations from Animal Care Officers. It is also illegal in San Antonio to use a chain as a tether for pets, regardless of the weather.

To report violations or for more information, call 3-1-1 (210-207-6000), or use the new 311SA mobile app. The 311 Call Center will operate continuously until 11 p.m. Wednesday night and then return to normal operating hours.
