SAN ANTONIO (December 19, 2024) – In today’s City Council A Session, the Council voted to adopt the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) plan for the VIA Advanced Rapid Transit line (ART). Cities have used TOD as a strategic approach to urban growth, aiming to balance economic vitality and well-being.

District 10 Councilmember Marc Whyte highlighted the benefits of TOD and emphasized that residents’ quality of life is a top priority.

“Our residents’ day-to-day lives must always be taken into account first,” said the Councilmember. “If done correctly, TOD plans can create vibrant, mixed-use communities. They promote live, work, and play environments, and the opportunity for economic growth is substantial when done properly. But no matter what—our residents’ quality of life must not be compromised!”
