SAN ANTONIO (October 25, 2024) – District 6 Councilmember Melissa Cabello Havrda believes protecting families and neighborhoods is a top priority. From mailbox thefts and lighting concerns to recent headlines about potential gang activity, action is being taken to protect District 6 with the District 6 Public Safety Day on October 29th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Valero Room of the San Antonio Food Bank, 5200 Historic Old Hwy 90, 78227.

This event, titled "We've Got Your 6", will bring together residents, first responders, and city officials to address public safety concerns and propose community-driven solutions to ensure San Antonio remains a safe place to live and raise families.

"Every morning, the weight of our city's safety concerns is felt deeply, both as a public servant and a mother," said Councilmember Cabello Havrda. "The stories of violence in the news are heartbreaking, but there is a strong commitment to taking immediate action to protect our families. The District 6 Public Safety Day is one of many steps toward engaging the community and finding practical solutions together."

All District 6 residents are encouraged to attend and bring their safety concerns, ideas, and suggestions. The community's voice is the most important part of this process, as working together to build a safer San Antonio starts with listening. Those who cannot attend are invited to share their safety experiences and concerns by filling out the District 6 Public Safety Survey.
