SAN ANTONIO (January 29, 2025) — The City of San Antonio invites the community to visit downtown, including Historic Market Square, La Villita Historic Arts Village, Travis Park, and Houston Street this February for a wide variety of events. 

While you enjoy La Villita and Market Square events, don’t forget to stop inside their stores to shop for one-of-a-kind treasures.

Downtown Rodeo Events

Western Heritage Vaquero Cook-Off

Friday, January 31 – Sunday, February 2, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; free

Location: Historic Market Square, 514 W. Commerce Street

Head to Market Square to enjoy some of the traditional staples of the vaqueros from the 1800s. Enjoy culinary offerings such as chili, menudo, and arroz con pollo as cook-off teams compete for the honor of grand champion. For more information, visit the Market Square website.


San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Stampede 5K Run/Walk

Saturday, February 1, 9 a.m.; registration required

Location: Milam Park, 201 W. Commerce St.

The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Stampede 5K Run/Walk takes place on the streets of historic downtown San Antonio, starting and ending at Milam Park. After participating in the Stampede 5K, stick around to watch the Western Heritage Cattle Drive & Parade and enjoy great entertainment at the Vaquero Cook-Off at Historic Market Square. To register, visit the event website.


Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive

Saturday, February 1, 10:50 a.m.; free

Location: Downtown Houston Street

Step back in time to celebrate our historic Texas roots and kick-off the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo! The parade route runs through historic Houston Street and features a cattle drive of Texas longhorns, mounted infantry groups, authentic wagons, and heritage organizations that come together to participate in a display of the western heritage and local culture of San Antonio and Texas. Yee Haw in Travis Park & Legacy Park

Locations: Travis Park, 301 E. Travis Street and Legacy Park, 107 W. Houston St.

After the Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive on Houston Street, enjoy rodeo festivities at Travis Park and Legacy Park. Centro San Antonio and partners will sponsor free, family-friendly rodeo activities, including photo opportunities, live music, barbecue, and more. Craft Tuesday

Tuesday, February 11, 5:30 p.m. –7:30 p.m.; free

You’re invited to our free, family-friendly Valentine’s Day themed Craft Tuesday. Chef Johnny Hernandez will be sharing a hands-on hot chocolate recipe, and guests will receive a ceramic mug they can decorate. All supplies provided – just bring yourself, your friends, and family. Come early to grab dinner in the Village, or you can purchase light bites and beverages from Prost Haus. Valentine’s Day at Market Square

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at Historic Market Square and explore a variety of food and artisan booths offering delicious treats and unique handcrafted items. Downtown can get very busy during the holidays, so make a plan.Visitors are strongly encouraged to arrive early to avoid disruptions caused by traffic and construction projects. Consider using public transportation, ride-share services, taxis, biking, or walking.Plan to leave early and consult a navigation app, such as Google Maps or Waze,to find the best route to your destination.For more information about parking and event-related activities, visit the City’s Know Before You Go Downtown website.

Visitor Parking

For easy, convenient, and affordable parking, visit the City’s parking map provides a full list of City-owned garages and lots. Note that event parking rates (up to $15 at City parking facilities) will be in effect at some parking facilities during busy event weekends.

The St. Mary’s Garage (205 E. Travis St.) and the City Tower Garage (60 N. Flores St.) are located just steps from the River Walk and Houston Street, and they generally have many parking spots. Downtown Tuesday offers free parking on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. in City-owned parking facilities, and City Tower Sundays offers free parking on Sundays from 7 a.m. to midnight at the City Tower Garage (60 N. Flores St.).
