SAN ANTONIO (April 15, 2025) – Today, SAPD presented crime statistics for the first quarter of calendar year 2025 (January to March) to the Public Safety Committee.

The table below provides a summary of the 2025 National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) crime statistics report for the first quarter of each calendar year and offers a crime comparison for the last two years.

Crime Category 2024 2025 Change In the first quarter of 2025, there is a 12.8% decrease in crimes against persons, or violent crime compared to last year. This decrease is attributable to the significant decrease in homicides and sex offenses. Most violent crime, particularly homicides, are attributable to high-risk behavior to include drug activity, theft, and personal disputes among acquaintances. Property crimes are down 24.5%. Overall, there is a 19.3% decrease in all crime offenses compared to the first quarter of 2024.
