SAN ANTONIO (April 4, 2025) – District 6 Councilwoman Melissa Cabello Havrda is proud to celebrate the overwhelming success of San Antonio’s First Free City-Wide Mega Pet Vaccination Clinic, where a total of 986 pets—795 dogs and 191 cats—received essential vaccinations and microchips.

"I wanted to create a city-wide event that would make pet healthcare accessible to every family, regardless of financial barriers,” said Councilwoman Cabello Havrda. “After a year of planning and hard work by the D6 team, it’s incredibly satisfying to see this vision become a reality. The overwhelming turnout shows how much this community values the well-being of their pets. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.”

Vaccinations play a crucial role in preventing disease outbreaks and protecting the health of both pets and their families. The free clinic at the Wheatley Heights Sports Complex reached full capacity, reflecting the community’s strong commitment to pet well-being. By offering essential services at no cost, the clinic ensured that more pet owners could access the care their animals need.

Special thanks go to San Antonio Animal Care Services, Petco Love, Protect Your Pet, Spay Neuter Network, Penny Paws, PIMA Medical Institute, and the many dedicated volunteers who helped make the event possible. This successful effort demonstrated the power of collaboration and the positive impact it can have on the community. Events like this continue to play an important role in supporting the health and well-being of both residents and their pets.
