2024 Individual Artist Grantees Announced

50 San Antonio artists to collectively receive $250,000 in grants to create artworks.
SAN ANTONIO (July 11, 2023) — The City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture today unveiled 50 San Antonio-based artists selected to each receive $5,000 grants as part of its Individual Artists Project Grants Program. Aimed to support a diverse portfolio of artists working across San Antonio, the grants support the production of new, original and high-quality art to be presented in the city over the next 18 months.
The program, established in 2022, aims to support a diverse portfolio of artists working across San Antonio. The grantees range in discipline including Literary Arts, Media Arts, Multi-Disciplinary Arts, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. The artists, listed in alphabetical order, are:

“With this latest cycle, our individual artist grant program has supported a total of 156 grants to artists who, in turn, add to our city’s vibrancy and identity through creative expression,” said Department of Arts & Culture Director Krystal Jones. “It has been particularly exciting to see the artistic collaborations that have resulted from this grant program with San Antonio artists working together to showcase their projects and leverage their City of San Antonio grant to pursue other grant and exhibition opportunities.”
This competitive grant program is managed and administered annually by the Department of Arts & Culture with a focus on equity. Grant applications are evaluated by a panel of experts in each artistic discipline with potential additional points awarded to artists who self-describe as a person of racial and/or ethnic color, LGBTQIA+, a woman, a veteran, and/or living or operating their studio in a census tract that is historically disadvantaged as shown on the City of San Antonio’s Equity Atlas.
