SAN ANTONIO (December 5, 2023) — Coming off a record-breaking visitation year, the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture has announced the Centro de Artes Gallery’s lineup of exhibitions through 2028.

“Pre-pandemic the gallery saw on average about 10,000 visitors per year. This year, the Centro de Artes has welcomed about 24,000 visitors and displayed 320 artworks by 60 artists,” said Department of Arts & Culture Executive Director Krystal Jones. “This gallery has garnered national acclaim as an industry leader in displaying the experience of Latinos in the U.S through art. Moving into 2024, we look forward to Centro de Artes continuing to be a space recognized by the art industry and beyond.”

The next exhibitions to go on display from February 8 to June 30, 2024, are Millennial Lotería: The LatinXperience by guest artists Michael Alfaro & Gerardo Guillen on the large gallery’s first floor and Permanencia Voluntaria by guest artist Froy “Efedefroy” Padilla on the second floor. These displays will be followed by the exhibition Rolando Briseño: A Retrospective curated by Ruben Cordova, Ph.D. beginning in August.

“I am amazed at the number of applications we received from artists and curators across the country to showcase their exhibitions,” said District 3 Arts Commissioner, Centro De Artes Committee Chair and Luminaria Executive Director Yadhira Lozano. “The content for this next season is impactful and thought-provoking. The success of Centro de Artes reflects the desire for audiences to view Latinx art and meet new artists doing great work in our city and beyond.”
