District 7 Councilmember’s Statement on the Five Signature Memos

SAN ANTONIO (May 9, 2024) – The District 7 City Councilmember released the following statement about the two recent five signature memos:

“I signed on to this because I believe we deserve a full discussion in support of our first responders. Our residents’ top priority is public safety, and I’ve represented that priority since day one,” said the Councilmember.

“This discussion is needed to ensure effectiveness, and guarantee we are taking care of those who take care of us. When our residents call 911, there needs to be an expectation that the best public safety officers in the country will respond.

“Investing in public safety is one of the core functions of our city and there is nothing more essential than investing in our police and fire departments. All we are asking for today is the opportunity to discuss this as a full City Council.”
