Fort Sam Houston Area Residents Invited to Share their Vision for the Community. Planning department to host Fort Sam Houston Open House at the AT&T Center.
SAN ANTONIO (June 16, 2022) — The City of San Antonio Planning Department is hosting an open house at the AT&T Center – H-E-B Fan Zone for the Fort Sam Houston Area Regional Center Plan. The open house will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
The Fort Sam Houston Area Regional Center Plan, launched earlier this year, is being developed to implement the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, adopted by City Council in 2016. Throughout this community-based planning process, the City will organize numerous engagement activities and participate in community events for residents to share their vision for the Fort Sam Houston area. The plan will develop recommendations and strategies for the area that will be used by City Departments, partner agencies, private entities, and community partners to further enhance the Fort Sam Houston area as a vibrant Regional Center.
During the open-house style public meeting, attendees will be asked to share their feedback for the area, community vision, and receive general information about the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, and overall sub-area planning process. The location host, Spurs Sports & Entertainment, will display the San Antonio Spurs NBA Championship trophies and attendees will have an opportunity to view and take pictures with them.
“We invite all Fort Sam Houston area community members, business owners, and interested stakeholders to participate in the open house and share their vision for the area. We are looking forward to engaging conversations, and continued collaboration with the Fort Sam Houston area community and partners throughout this process.” said Bridgett White, AICP, Director of the Planning Department.
Opportunities are available to provide comment before, during, or after the open house through the plan website, social media, surveys, email, and future meeting opportunities.
