SAN ANTONIO (July 19, 2023)  San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) and local animal welfare partners have been flooded with pets in need, including dozens of puppies and kittens. In the last week, The Animal Defense League transferred 114 pets from ACS, while lifesaving partner San Antonio Pets Alive! also took in more than one hundred animals with 31 neonatal pups and kittens transferred from the municipal shelter yesterday alone. Despite the helping hand, the situation remains dire and there are still hundreds of pets in need at local shelters and animal welfare organizations. Fosters are urgently needed to provide temporary care for pets as they become adoption ready. Foster applications are available via the following links:

Fosters will receive food and other supplies for their temporary pets including medical care and vaccinations. Interested residents should check with the program of their choice for additional resources.
