Free Landfill Day this Saturday, July 13

SAN ANTONIO (July 10, 2024) – The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is inviting its customers to a free landfill day event this Saturday, July 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations: 

• Republic Services Landfill - 7000 IH 10 E, 78219
• Waste Management Landfill - 8611 Covel Road, 78252
• Texas Disposal System - 11601 Starcrest Dr, 78247

SWMD customers must bring a valid photo ID and a copy of a recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the City’s environmental fee. The name on the identification and the CPS invoice must match. Residents who do not show these documents when requested are responsible for immediate payment of the regular disposal fees. All loads must be covered with a tarp and customers are highly encouraged to wear a safety vest.

Accepted Material:

• Household bulky items like appliances, furniture, and mattresses
• Carpet, fencing material, water heaters, and toilets
• Tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)

Unaccepted Material:

• Roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials
• Industrial or commercial waste 
• Any waste being transported in a branded commercial vehicle

The City reserves the right to divert loads to other sites in the event of operational constraints. The City and its partners are not responsible for damage to vehicles or injury to attendees of the event. SWMD operates four bulky item drop-off centers that are free for customers to dispose of solid waste and open year-round Tuesday through Saturday. Visit SARecycles.org for those locations.
