SAN ANTONIO (December 12, 2023) – Dozens of pets at San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS) are facing the holidays without the hope of a home. The shelter’s Fa La La Foster drive aims to change that with the help of good Samaritans willing to open their hearts and homes to lonely shelter pets. Many of these pets were found abandoned, roaming, or left to fend for themselves in the cold.

SAACS is in desperate need of foster volunteers willing commit to temporarily house any of the dogs and cats in need for a minimum of two weeks. The drive hopes to secure fosters for at least 100 pets over the next month. Like the shelter’s year-round foster program, participation in the Fa La La Foster program is free and open to both families and individual volunteers. Every fostered pet will leave with all their supplies including food and veterinary care if needed.

Placement assistance is needed through January 15, 2024, to reduce capacity-related euthanasia due to ongoing overcrowding. Current candidates for foster care include dozens of medium to large-sized dogs, puppies, and kittens. Animal lovers who would like to help foster can submit an application online at SAACS.info/FalalaFoster.
