Large Crowd Expected for UTSA Football Home Opener

SAN ANTONIO (September 8, 2023) — With a sizeable attendance expected for Saturday’s home opener for UTSA football, City of San Antonio officials are encouraging fans to take advantage of VIA Metropolitan Transit’s Park & Ride option.

Disruptions to traffic and parking are expected for the 2:30 p.m. game, which features the Roadrunners taking on I-35 rival Texas State.

Fans are advised to plan to arrive downtown early for parking options or to take advantage of VIA Park & Ride availability to and from the Crossroads location (151 Crossroads Blvd., 78201).

Cost for the VIA service, which begins at 11:30 a.m., is just $1.30 each way, with discounted fares for children, seniors, students and active-duty U.S. military. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Park & Ride location. Parking at Crossroads is free. For information, visit VIA’s ride events website.

The schedule at the Alamodome for the UTSA game:

• 11:30 a.m. – H-E-B Plaza/UTSA Fan Zone opens. Free concert by Finding Friday.
• 1 p.m. – Doors to the stadium open.
• 2:30 p.m. – Ballgame kickoff.

 

Saturday will mark UTSA’s annual Let’s Go 210 and Blue Out game. Fans are encouraged to wear blue and bring your Let’s Go 210 flags in show of their support of the Roadrunners. Additionally, fans are encouraged to be in their seats early to see UTSA’s 2022 Conference USA Championship banner unveiled in the rafters of the Alamodome. The ceremony will occur approximately 25 minutes before kickoff.
