Paramount+ Original Series 1923 Coming to San Antonio

San Antonio’s historic locations and film friendliness entice major TV series..

SAN ANTONIO (August 13, 2024) — The film division of the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture and other local entities are actively working with production personnel from MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios to facilitate filming in San Antonio this fall for Paramount+’s acclaimed original series 1923’s upcoming second season.

The series, a Golden Globe-nominated prequel to Taylor Sheridan’s hit show Yellowstone, stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. While season one of 1923 was filmed in Montana, Malta and Africa, the majority of season two’s filming will take place across Texas.

“The fact that this project has selected San Antonio as a filming destination speaks highly of all that our vibrant and thriving city has to offer television and film projects,” Department of Arts & Culture Executive Director Krystal Jones said. “San Antonio provides productions so many different looks and eras, lending itself well for any story to be told.” 

The production will be using Austin as a base for season two’s filming and has indicated that proximity, access to abundant historic locations and film-friendly city services, such as turnkey film permitting, played a key role in enticing the production to choose San Antonio.
