SAN ANTONIO (April 21, 2023) – San Antonio Parks and Recreation is celebrating Earth Day 2023, an official Fiesta event, at Woodlawn Lake Park (1103 Cincinnati Ave) on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Earth Day offers the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate nature, conservation, and sustainability while enjoying a free, fun-filled event. Earth Day will feature over 70 community partners, hands-on family activities, engaging dance and musical performances, tree and plant giveaways, cooking demo, yoga, kayaking, fishing, and more. Local food vendors will offer vegan and vegetarian menu options for purchase. Earth Day strives to be a Zero Waste event with partners supporting this effort by eliminating single-use plastics, switching to compostable materials, avoiding flyers and giveaway items, and helping attendees sort trash, recyclables, and compost items at zero waste stations. This event is also supporting the City’s climate initiatives by reducing waste and increasing product reuse. Everyone has a role to play in protecting green spaces for future generations. Here are some simple ways to be a zero-waste hero on Earth Day and every day:
