Planning Department is hosting an areawide meeting to present the Draft Plan

SAN ANTONIO (August 24, 2022)  — The City of San Antonio Planning Department is hosting an open-house style public meeting at CityChurch San Antonio (9431 Bandera Rd, 78250) for the Bandera Road Corridor Plan. The open house will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and attendees may come and go during this time.

The Bandera Road Corridor Plan, launched in 2019, is the first corridor plan developed under the guidance of the SA Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 2016 by City Council. The planning process and community outreach effort has resulted in the development of a Draft Plan, made public earlier this year.  The plan includes multi-modal transportation, future land use, economic development, and urban design plan for the Bandera Road Corridor, from I-410 to Loop 1604.

During the open house, attendees will be asked to share their feedback for the Draft Plan and receive general information about the planning process and the proposed future land use plan. Feedback received during this meeting will be used in the review and revision process which will ultimately result in the final administrative plan.

“The Bandera Road Corridor plan has been a years-long, collaborative effort,” said Councilwoman Ana Sandoval. “A critical component for me has always been public participation, so I’m glad to hear the community’s feedback, and look forward to incorporating community input into the plan.”

“We thank the residents, business owners, and stakeholders who have participated in this planning process for the past three years. Your continued support and dedication have led to development of a plan that will ultimately improve the Bandera Road Corridor,” said Rudy Niño, Jr, AICP, Assistant Director of the Planning Department. “The community is invited to attend the community meeting and share their feedback and comments as we near the final stages in the planning process”.

Opportunities are available to provide comment before, during, or after the open house through the plan website, social media, survey, and email.
