SAN ANTONIO (February 8, 2024) – The City of San Antonio Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commission is excited to announce an upcoming special event dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. King through community engagement and empowerment. The community is invited to join the MLK Commission and supporting partners for “City of San Antonio Community Coming Together: Working Beyond the March” at Pittman Sullivan Park on Saturday, February 24 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, February 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The celebration will be a weekend of connection through resources from local businesses and health agencies to learn all about what San Antonio has to offer. It will also include worship with music, youth activities, and food.

The Commission extends its heartfelt gratitude to the community for the successful and inspiring events that took place over this year’s MLK weekend. The City hosts the largest MLK March in the nation, paying homage to Rev. R. A. Callies for his tireless efforts in organizing the beloved community-wide event. While it was disappointing to cancel the traditional MLK March due to dangerous weather conditions, the spirit of unity and remembrance was vibrantly alive in the various gatherings.

Mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details. The City and the Commission look forward to participants joining the event as San Antonio works together towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
