SmartSA Sandbox Comes to Confluence Park

The interactive STEAM experience for San Antonio communities returns this Saturday, Oct. 7.
SAN ANTONIO (October 3, 2023) – The City of San Antonio's Office of Innovation is thrilled to announce the return of SmartSA Sandbox, an innovative and immersive event designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a passion for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) in children and families. This is the first time the Office of Innovation is partnering with the San Antonio River Foundation, who is hosting the event at the beautiful community destination Confluence Park.

SmartSA Sandbox is a free, family-friendly event that has become a staple in the San Antonio community's calendar. It offers a unique opportunity for participants to engage with local innovation initiatives and explore the fascinating world of STEAM through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations.

This year's event features 25 activities sponsored by 21 partners. Highlights include interactive city-design activities from the DoSeum, hands-on educational STEAM workshops from the Alamo Regional Data Alliance, innovative robotics demonstrations from Youth Code Jam, and live drone racing from Commonwealth Computers. The AM Project will be keeping the tunes going all day and exhibiting their youth digital music classes.
SmartSA Sandbox is free and open to the public. The flexible event allows attendees to explore partner exhibits at their own pace throughout the day.
