Solid Waste Management Household Hazardous Waste Event

City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management 


SAN ANTONIO (March 6, 2025) – San Antonio’s Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) customers are invited to participate in a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) event on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Bitters Drop-Off Center, 1800 Wurzbach Parkway, 78216. 

The event is open only to SWMD customers. A valid picture ID and a copy of the most recent CPS Energy bill are required. There is no fee for this service.

Accepted Materials for Disposal 

  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Chemicals
  • Pesticides
  • Batteries
  • Electronics  

Non-accepted Materials for Disposal

  • Household garbage
  • Ammunition
  • Fireworks
  • Medications
  • Bio-hazardous waste

Requirements for Drop-Off

  • Contents should be kept in original container.
  • If the container leaks, transfer contents to a leak-proof or lined cardboard box.
  • Do not mix different materials in the same container or bag.
  • Place all items in a box and put them in the trunk or truck bed during transport.
  • A technician will unload the HHW materials and return the containers upon request.
  • If materials are brought in a non-approved container, it will not be returned.
  • Paint and other liquid waste are limited to five 5-gallon cans and 25 1-gallon cans with a 220-pound limit.
