Winter Free Landfill Event This Saturday

SAN ANTONIO (February 8, 2023) – The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is hosting a free landfill day event on Saturday, February 10, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

• Republic Services Landfill - 7000 IH 10 E, 78219
• Waste Management Landfill - 8611 Covel Road, 78252
• Texas Disposal Systems - 11601 Starcrest Rd, 78247

Customers must bring a valid picture ID and a copy of the most recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the City’s environmental fee. All loads must be covered with a tarp and customers are highly encouraged to wear a safety vest.

Accepted Materials:

• Household bulky items like appliances, furniture, and mattresses
• Carpet, fencing material, water heaters, and toilets
• Tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)

Unacceptable Materials:

• Roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, or construction materials
• Industrial or commercial waste

The City reserves the right to divert loads to other sites in the event of operational constraints. The city and its partners are not responsible for damage to vehicles or injury to attendees of the event. The SWMD operates four bulky item drop-off centers that are free to dispose of solid waste and open year-round, Tuesday through Saturday. Visit SArecycles.org for those locations.
