Get Rid of Unwanted Items on Free Landfill Day

SAN ANTONIO (February 10, 2023) – Got unwanted stuff cluttering up your home or garage? The City of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) is hosting its first free landfill day of the year on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

• Republic Services Landfill - 7000 IH 10 E, 78219
• Waste Management Landfill - 8611 Covel Road, 78252

Customers must bring a valid picture ID and a copy of the most recent CPS Energy bill showing payment of the City’s environmental fee. All loads must be covered with a tarp and customers may be required to wear a safety vest, provided on-site.

Accepted Materials:

•  Appliances, water heaters, toilets, furniture, and mattresses
• Carpet, fencing material, and tires (limit six passenger vehicle tires per household)

Unaccepted Materials:

•  Roofing material, sheet rock, dirt, brick, brush, lumber, construction materials
• Industrial, commercial or construction waste

In case customers miss this free landfill day, they can mark their calendar for April 8, 2023.

SWMD also operates four bulky item drop-off centers open year-round Tuesday through Saturday for disposal of bulky material. Visit sarecycles.org for more information about those locations.
