SAN ANTONIO (February 2, 2023) – The City of San Antonio provided critical services to residents during the winter storm, including securing temporary shelter for more than 1,000 individuals over three nights, providing resources to those who chose to remain unsheltered, monitoring and keeping roadways open, responding to reports of suspected animal abuse and providing other vital services to residents. After activating its emergency operation center, the City’s Departments remained operational and reactive to maintain essential services to residents. “The City of San Antonio collaborated with our local partners and non-profit organizations to serve our residents during this winter storm,” said City Manager Erik Walsh. “I want to thank the City team for their dedication in responding to the needs of our residents with empathy, compassion and care.”
Department of Human Services and non-profit partners began outreach on Monday to connect people experiencing homelessness with resources and temporary shelters during the cold temperatures. That outreach continues through this evening. Department of Human Services and nonprofits provided:
