¡Viva Health!: Educational Resources

¡Viva Health! is nutrition education designed for San Antonio, offered by the Metro Health Community Nutrition Program. Our goal is to simplify and unify nutrition education with an emphasis on San Antonio's culture, lifestyle, and needs. When you eat well, you feel great!

¡Viva Health! follows a localized version of The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) MyPlate and focuses on three core messages:

  • Make half your plate fruits & vegetables. Every meal, every day.
  • For portion control, use a smaller plate.
  • Drink water, not sugary drinks.

¡Viva Health! Pláticas

Metro Health Community Nutrition invites the community to participate in free ¡Viva Health!: Nourished on Any Budget Pláticas - Community Conversations. These one-hour conversation sessions are facilitated by Community Health Workers and aim to help participants feel empowered to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in ways that honor their lifestyle and cultural needs. Participants will discuss practical tips for easy meal preparation, ways to add more fruits and vegetables to meals on any budget, and foods that support overall health.

If your organization would like Community Nutrition to host a ¡Viva Health! Nourished on Any Budget Plática - Community Conversation or be a part of your upcoming event or program, please complete the request form no later than 14 days prior to your event.
